Where does the Elizabeth line go?

The line runs east–west right through central London. From the west it starts at Reading and Heathrow Airport (Terminals 2&3, 4 and 5), the two western arms joining at Hayes & Harlington before Paddington. It then tunnels under the West End and the City - Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel - and splits again: south-east to Canary Wharf, Woolwich and Abbey Wood, and north-east through Stratford, Ilford and Romford to Shenfield in Essex.

Connecting stations the official map doesn't show

Several Elizabeth line stations link directly to stations that aren't on the line - shown in grey on the map above:

  • Bond Street Oxford Circus: about a 4-minute walk from the Hanover Square entrance (Victoria, Bakerloo, Central)
  • Liverpool Street Moorgate: same station - the western ticket hall opens onto Moorgate (Northern, Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, Great Northern)
  • Farringdon Barbican: same station - the eastern ticket hall is by Barbican (Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City)
  • Canary Wharf Canary Wharf (Jubilee) & DLR: about a 5-minute covered walk through Crossrail Place (Jubilee, DLR)
  • Woolwich Woolwich Arsenal: about a 2-minute walk (DLR, Southeastern)
  • Stratford Stratford International: about a 5-minute signed walk through the Westfield mall, or one stop on the DLR (DLR, Southeastern high speed)
  • Forest Gate Wanstead Park: about a 5-minute walk up Woodgrange Road - an official out-of-station interchange (Overground (Suffragette line))

Which zones is the Elizabeth line in?

Central stations Paddington–Whitechapel are zone 1 (Whitechapel zone 2). Heathrow is zone 6. The Abbey Wood branch spans zones 2–4, the Shenfield branch zones 3–6 with Brentwood and Shenfield beyond the zones, and the Reading branch leaves the TfL zones past West Drayton - stations from Iver outwards use National Rail fares. Every station shows its zone on the stations page.
