Which train for your terminal

Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 trains alternate through the day, and both call at Terminals 2 & 3 - so for T2 or T3, take the first Heathrow train that arrives. For T4 or T5, check the front of the board: a train roughly every 15 minutes serves each. If you board the wrong one, change at Terminals 2 & 3 - travel between the Heathrow stations is free.

Fares - contactless, Oyster, peak and off-peak

Paddington to any Heathrow terminal is £14.60 at any time of day with contactless or Oyster. From Liverpool Street it is £15.50 at any time of day. Heathrow journeys carry a premium over standard zonal fares, but the Elizabeth line is usually well under the Heathrow Express walk-up price. See fares from any station.

Luggage: Trains start at the terminals, so you can usually board early and get a seat with your cases. Avoid the weekday 16:30–18:30 peak heading into town.

Quietest: From Terminal 5, aim for around 14:00 for the calmest run into central London.

Useful stops: Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street, Canary Wharf - all reachable without changing onto the Tube.
