How Elizabeth line fares work

Pay with contactless (card or phone) or Oyster and the fare is calculated automatically - there is nothing to buy in advance. Contactless and Oyster charge the same pay-as-you-go fares shown here; paper singles from ticket machines cost more. Peak fares apply when you tap in between 06:30–09:30 and 16:00–19:00 on weekdays; everything else, including weekends and public holidays, is off-peak.

One exception: Oyster isn’t valid west of West Drayton. Between Iver and Reading, use contactless or a paper ticket.

Daily and weekly capping limits what you pay across all TfL services, so several journeys in one day often cost less than the sum of the singles. Journeys to Heathrow and stations beyond West Drayton are priced by National Rail and sit outside some caps - TfL’s fare pages have the cap tables.
