How Elizabeth line fares work

Pay with contactless (card or phone) or Oyster and the fare is calculated automatically - there is nothing to buy in advance. Contactless and Oyster charge the same pay-as-you-go fares shown here; paper singles from ticket machines cost more.

Daily and weekly capping limits what you pay across all TfL services, so several journeys in one day often cost less than the sum of the singles. Journeys to Heathrow and stations beyond West Drayton are priced by National Rail and sit outside some caps - TfL’s fare pages have the cap tables.

How much is the Elizabeth line to Heathrow?

£14.60 from Paddington to Heathrow with contactless or Oyster, at any time of day, and £15.50 off-peak (£15.50 peak) from Liverpool Street. Heathrow journeys carry a premium over standard zonal fares.

How much does the Elizabeth line cost in central London?

Standard TfL pay-as-you-go fares - for example £3.00 off-peak (£3.10 peak) from Paddington to Tottenham Court Road. Within Zones 1–6 the Elizabeth line costs the same as the Underground for the same journey.

When are peak fares charged?

When you tap in between 06:30–09:30 or 16:00–19:00, Monday to Friday (public holidays excluded). All other times are off-peak, including all day Saturday and Sunday.

How much is the Elizabeth line from Reading to London?

£14.00 off-peak and £30.40 peak from Reading to Paddington with contactless (Oyster isn't valid west of West Drayton). These are National Rail-set fares - railcard holders may pay less with a paper ticket.

Can I use Oyster on the Elizabeth line?

Yes, at the same pay-as-you-go fares as contactless - except west of West Drayton. For Iver, Langley, Slough, Burnham, Taplow, Maidenhead, Twyford and Reading, use contactless or a paper ticket.

Is travel between Heathrow terminals free?

Yes. Travel between Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 on the Elizabeth line is free - tap in and out as normal and you won't be charged.
